Asics Gel Lyte III x Ronnie Fieg "Salmon Toe"
Since 2007, Ronnie Fieg and Asics worked on over 50 projects together. Working together first from when Ronnie worked at David Z to today, having built Kith. He's done incredibly well and it is cool to see a timeline of sneakers over 13 years chronology mark his journey.
This stamp marks the release of The Gel Lyte III "Salmon Toe" from 2011. In general, even without collaboration, the shoe is ridiculously good looking with the split tongue and debossed branding. However, Ronnie's touch definitely elevated them. Sneakerheads loved it and in 2016, a 2.0 version was released.
I remember I used to go onto Tumblr to see who shot sneakers the best and at the same time, watch sneaker unboxing. Mr. Foamer Simpson (before the beard) back then was madly in love with the "Salmon Toe's." So much so he created an almost Chris Brown "Excuse me miss" music video in pursuit of the shoes...Staring into the distance, longingly, hoping they would be his. If that sounds weird, it is. But...it's the internet. Going into this stamp I had to look at this video again and to put it like Foamer Simpson, "This is the type of Salmon grizzly bears fight over."
