New Balance’s 990 campaign “worn by supermodels in London and dads in Ohio” makes me smile.

It’s a pretty smart and playful piece of work, showing the oddity in the adoption of the dad shoe in high fashion and how we perceive the shoe differently, depending on the wearer. It’s a dad shoe or it’s a dad shoe.

For this stamp I imagine our recipient receiving a letter from either a supermodel or their dad. Fingers crossed!

Just like when you get a birthday card as a kid, there is a moment of suspense. Holding it, “it’s a little heavy!” Shake it, “it sounds like there is something more inside than just a card!” “Is it money?” Maybe in receiving this letter the optimistic would cross their fingers and hope. “Maybe a supermodel saw me and somehow tracked down my address and inside is them professing their love.” Could happen.

Or, more likely, it’s their dad.
Fingers crossed though!
